In the wake of AJ McCarron’s season-ending injury, Josh Rosen is expected to join the Atlanta Falcons.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, the Atlanta Falcons have signed former first-round pick Josh Rosen to replace AJ McCarron and compete for the team’s open backup quarterback position.
McCarron, who joined the Falcons in April, tore his right ACL in the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the Dolphins in Miami, effectively ending his season.
Falcons coach Arthur Smith stated earlier Monday that the team will work out and add a quarterback to compete with Feleipe Franks as Matt Ryan’s backup.
He was candid about the Falcons’ quarterback situation.
“That doesn’t mean that if we add someone this week, we won’t add someone else next week,” Smith added.
“We’ll keep an eye on it,” Smith said, adding that whoever they sign may play in Sunday’s preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns.
Ryan and the rest of Atlanta’s starters have yet to play in the preseason, but Smith said they’ll approach this week as if everyone is getting ready to play, then analyze the true plan at the end of the week.
It would theoretically include Rosen, but if he were to play against the Browns, he would most likely be working with a limited playbook as he needs to master the terminology and then as much as he can.
“I just believe it’s unfair to throw someone out there and say, ‘Here’s the whole game plan,’ and expect them to be able to operate,” Smith said.
“So, depending on who we sign, you know they’ll be ready to go,” said Rosen, who has played for five NFL teams since being picked 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
In 13 games as a rookie in Phoenix, the former UCLA standout completed 55.2% of his passes for 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
During Rosen’s rookie season, the Cardinals fired Steve Wilks and chose Kliff Kingsbury as his replacement.
Using the No
The Cardinals selected Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in 2019 and then traded Rosen to Miami, where he started three games and completed 53.2% of his passes for 567 yards, one touchdown, and five interceptions.
Rosen was released by Miami in September 2020 after the team selected Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 1 overall pick.
He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 draft, however he ended up on Tampa Bay’s practice squad.
In December, he was signed off the Buccaneers’ practice squad by San Francisco, but he never played in a game.
Trey Lance was picked No. 1 overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
Rosen was dismissed last week as the No. 3 overall pick in 2021.

On the Bills, Josh Allen’s contract, a pass-happy attitude, and ten takeaways

NEW YORK’S ORCHARD PARK
— Before head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane arrived in Buffalo, the Bills had gone 17 seasons without entering the NFL playoffs. In McDermott and Beane’s four years in charge, the Bills have made the playoffs three times.
The Bills finished 13-3 last season and proceeded to the AFC Championship game before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs. There’s reason to believe the team is now well-positioned for long-term success.
Beane has the most MTMS (Moves That Make Sense) in the NFL.
McDermott has demonstrated a willingness to change with his team.
The Bills’ foundation appears to be stable, despite the fact that things in the NFL may change quickly.
During a visit to the Bills’ training camp and meetings with McDermott and Beane earlier this month, the franchise signed Allen to a new $258 million contract that will keep him under contract until 2028.
Check out our 2021 Playbook 1 deep dive for more information.
When it comes to rebuilding, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution.
But, the Bills’ plan when Beane and McDermott took over may be used as a model in the modern NFL: identify core players, move on from others, and establish a healthy cap situation. Take a chance on a rookie quarterback. Put that quarterback in a position to succeed by putting together a solid supporting cast.”It was protect him, number one,” Beane told The Athletic.
“Then there’s weapons.”

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals could benefit greatly from this technology in their NFL careers.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIFORNIA (AP) —
On the first Wednesday morning in July, the Junipero Serra Catholic High football team is busy training inside its stadium across the street from campus, tucked away in the Saddleback Mountains.
Nearby, the school’s track team has just finished their practice.
However, across the field, only a few yards from all the 14-, 15-, and 16-year-olds, is an operation that may help determine who wins the next Super Bowl and turn another perennial NFL doormat into a playoff team.
Josh Allen is hitting a trio of receivers 25 yards downfield with one flawless pass after another.
While the Bills star works on his mechanics, private quarterback coach Jordan Palmer stands nearby, watching every move as two other young NFL quarterbacks warm up.

Is Josh Allen joining the Patriots? On the Giants, Dak Prescott? Which of the NFL’s rivals would have the most impact on each team?

What if you took some of the finest players in the NFL and traded them to a division rival?
While all three AFC East opponents would want to add Bills quarterback Josh Allen to their rosters, the same cannot be said for AFC West rivals and Patrick Mahomes.
It’s not true for NFC West opponents and Aaron Donald, either. Here’s who our writers would choose if they could only have one player from a rival team:AFC East
