With a golden arm and killer instinct, Dan Marino rewrote the record book at No. 18 in the NFL 100.

The Athletics’ initiative to select the 100 greatest players in football history is known as the NFL 100.
We’ll reveal new members of the list every day until the season starts, starting with the No.
On Wednesday, September 1st, one player will be crowned.
8.It’s tempting to depict Dan Marino by statistics because his stats are so eye-catching.Passing yards: 61,631.Touchdown passes: 420.Completed passes: 4,967.Touchdown-interception differential: 168.Each of them was an NFL record when Marino retired.
He concluded his career with more than 40 NFL records, but many of them have since been broken as the league evolves. Stats, as impressive as they were, couldn’t portray all of him any more than words could capture a breathtaking sunrise. There was the ability to see a play unfolding like a psychic, to know where his receiver would be and where the defender would not.
“He was going to find the hole, see it, and throw it perfectly.”
Dan had an intuitive aptitude.” “There was an arm that could have been used as a military weapon.”
Everyone else’s throws looked average, if not soft, in comparison to his.
“I would have loved to have had Dan when he was in his heyday because when he was in his prime, he threw the ball better than any quarterback perhaps who has ever played the game,” Jimmy Johnson, Marino’s final four-year coach, said.

The Seahawks safety (and his mother) are ecstatic about Jamal Adams’ new contract.

After trading two first-round picks and a third-round pick to the New York Jets for Adams in July 2020, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made sure Michelle was on the list of individuals he phoned. “Him contacting me, reaching out and calling my mother, that meant everything to me,” said Adams.
“It’s the simple things like that.” Flash forward 13 months, and Jamal signed a four-year contract deal for up to $72 million with Michelle on Tuesday.
With a base of $17.5 million and a maximum of $18 million, it’s the highest safety contract in the NFL, topping Justin Simmons’ $15.25 million per year with the Broncos.
According to ESPN, Adams will earn a $20 million signing bonus and $38 million in guarantees.
The $20 million signing bonus is comparable to Eric Berry’s six-year, $78 million agreement with the Chiefs in 2017 and Earl Thomas’ four-year, $55 million deal with the Ravens in 2019. Adams had been skipping training camp and games while negotiating the deal.
Both sides had buried their heels in on what they each considered were fair contract proposals after five months. “We had to really stake our ground,” Carroll said.
“And as a result, connections become even more important.”

Dak Prescott says he’s not interested in setting an NFL record.

Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys made a great start to the 2020 season before suffering a season-ending injury.
He was having a monster year, throwing for 1,856 yards, nine touchdowns, and four interceptions, with a quarterback rating of 99.4.
Then, in a game against the New York Giants, he was hurt.
CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOXNEWS.COM SPORTS COVERAGE He still signed a new contract this summer, but he now claims he doesn’t intend to set an NFL passing yardage record in 2021.
“To be honest with you, I don’t want to pass for 6,000 yards,” Prescott stated, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
“It indicates we’re not going to run the ball.”
That suggests we’re probably not doing what we should be doing to be a balanced, winning team.
Certainly, having those numbers and breaking or setting that record or whatever it is would be fantastic.
But it’s not anything I’ve considered.
“Like I previously stated, I want to be the top offense in the league, and I believe the best way for us to do that is if I’m not throwing as many yards, our run game is working, we’re playing complementary football, and we’re winning a lot of games.”
“I believe if thats the case, then ideally I won’t be playing as many fourth quarters trying to come back and perform the two-minute drills we were doing in the first five games that gave me a lot of those numbers,” Prescott said. In five seasons as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, Prescott is 47-27 with 17,634 yards and 106 touchdowns.
Prescott was on pace to throw for 6,760 yards in 16 games if he hadn’t been hurt last season, which would translate to 7,183 yards in the NFL’s new 17-game seasons.
Prescott has a good reason for not wanting to exceed Peyton Manning’s record of 5,477 yards passing for Denver in 2013.
Even so, it would be amazing if he did.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was ‘floored’ by the Dolphins’ decision to bench him in favor of Tua Tagovailoa.

According to Allen Eyestone of Imagn Content Services, Washington Football Team quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was “floored” last season after he was supplanted as Miami’s starting quarterback by Tua Tagovailoa.
Fitzpatrick, 38, made 20 starts for the Dolphins from 2019 to 2020, leading the team to a 4-3 record in his first season as a starter.
Nevertheless, during Miami’s bye week in late October, head coach Brian Flores informed Fitzpatrick that Tagovailoa would take over as the team’s quarterback.
Fitzpatrick told The Athletic’s Robert Mays, “I have a lot of respect for [Flores] and we have a really good connection.”
“But, I initially mistook it for a joke.”
‘Are you going to put Tua in?
“That was my team,” says the narrator.
With those men, I fought through the nonsense.
I understand how the NFL operates.
But to have it happen the way it did,” Tagovailoa said. Tagovailoa had a strong first season, going 6-3 with 11 touchdowns in nine starts.
After being benched in October, Fitzpatrick made three relief appearances, including a 182-yard effort in a comeback win against the Raiders in late December.
Despite his 2020 benching, Fitzpatrick isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
In September, the 16-year veteran will start for the Washington Redskins, marking his eighth team in one of the league’s most impressive journeyman careers.
Perhaps there’s still some Fitzmagic left in the Harvard product as he enters Year 17.

Take a look at Patrick Mahomes’ reaction to his autographed rookie card selling for a record-breaking price.

Despite Patrick Schmidt’s trade to the Blackhawks, the Penguins are still aiming to get Marc-Andre Fleury. Patrick Mahomes can’t believe how much his autographed Kansas City Chiefs rookie card sold for at an auction in late July.
Patrick Mahomes’ autographed rookie card from the Kansas City Chiefs is officially the most expensive NFL rookie card ever sold in an auction.
His one-of-a-kind National Treasures Autographed Rookie Card sold for $4.3 million, surpassing a Tom Brady rookie card from his time with the New England Patriots, which sold for $3.1 million in March 2021.
That may be a one-of-a-kind collector’s item, but this is a ridiculous amount of money to spend for an autographed card.
Even Mahomes is surprised at how much the card sold for.
In a quote tweet from Wednesday morning, he expressed his displeasure to the card in issue.
My goodness https://t.co/iCGgDa2dnL — Patrick Mahomes II (@PatrickMahomes) July 28, 2021 Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs rookie card sells for a record $4.3 million
Is he a shoe-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame already?
One could argue that, but he hasn’t yet completed his 26th season.
Brady, on the other hand, is in his 22nd season after graduating from Michigan and his second with the Super Bowl winner Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
By the time Mahomes puts up the spikes, this one-of-a-kind autographed rookie card might be worth eight figures if he achieves similar levels of team success as Brady.
Something is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, once again.
A Patrick Mahomes autographed rookie card is worth $4.3 million to one person.
This season, many NFL players will not be able to do so.
What kind of card, honestly, would reset the trading card market if this agreement does not?

Michael Thomas, a wide receiver with the New Orleans Saints, will miss the start of the season.

Michael Thomas in action against the Bears last season (AP) According to reports, the ankle injury that hampered New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas last season may keep him from making his debut in 2021.
Thomas “may be on the sideline for weeks” to begin the season, according to NFL Network, as he recovers from offseason surgery.
According to the report, the suggested rehab period following his June procedure to repair ligaments in his left ankle is four months.
Thomas was hurt in the 2020 opening and ended up receiving just 40 passes for 438 yards and zero touchdowns in seven games after breaking an NFL single-season record with 149 receptions for a league-leading 1,725 yards in 2019.

He appeared in two postseason games, but failed not catch a pass on his four targets in a 30-20 divisional playoff defeat to the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. pic.twitter.com/vrCdXB4Aw3 — NFL (@NFL) May 22, 2020
It was his first game without a catch in his five-year career.
Thomas, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, has 510 receptions for 5,950 yards and 32 touchdowns in 70 games since being picked in the second round by the Saints in 2016.
In 2019, Thomas, 28, agreed to a five-year, $96.3 million contract extension, with a basic salary of $12.6 million and a cap hit of $18.8 million in 2021.
As the Saints transition from the Drew Brees era, his absence would be a major blow to the offense.
The quarterbacks on the roster heading into training camp next week are Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, and rookie Ian Book.
