The Washington Football Team looks to have whittled down its final selection of possible nicknames.

The Washington Redskins have cut down their list of possible nicknames.
The club launched a web series called “Creating the Brand” on YouTube, and in the third episode, team president Jason Wright sits down with head coach Ron Rivera and general manager Martin Mayhew.
Some of the finalists were shown to Wright’s colleagues.

The Washington Presidents, Brigade, Redhogs, Football Team, Commanders, Armada, Defenders, and Redwolves were among the teams featured in the film.
The Washington Redwolves nickname appears to be agreed upon by the fans interviewed in the video.

“It offered us a wide view of how the public and the fan base feel about us as an organization and where they want to see us go,” Wright told the Associated Press in July.
The Warriors, one of the prospective nicknames, was dropped from the list in July.

Wright believes that the new name will encourage more people to support the squad and that it will not offend anyone.

On Saturday, No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence threw for 71 yards in two series against the Cleveland Browns in the first half.
Lawrence, the Jaguars’ first-round choice in the 2021 NFL Draft, was sacked and nearly fumbled on his first snap, but recovered to complete 6-of-9 passes.
On his two series, Lawrence was sacked twice in 11 dropbacks, and the Jaguars punted and turned the ball over on downs.
On the second series of the second quarter, Gardner Minshew II took over for Lawrence.
On third-and-10 on his own 13-yard line, Lawrence threw his best pass.
He connected with Marvin Jones Jr. after taking a sack on the previous play.

In his preseason debut, Jets’ Zach Wilson plays two series and leads the offense to a field goal.

During the first half of Saturday’s game against the Giants, quarterback Zach Wilson passed for 63 yards in two series in his preseason debut with the Jets.
Wilson is the number one player in the game.
With his first pass, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft connected with Corey Davis for 9 yards.
Wilson connected with Davis on a 9-yard pass on third-and-6, and the rookie quarterback later put the Jets in field goal range.
Wilson’s debut NFL drive ended with the Jets up 3-0.
On third-and-9 on his own 20-yard line, Wilson threw his greatest pass.
He hit Keelan Cole with a 16-yard bullet up the middle.
Later in the second quarter, Mike White came in to take over for Wilson, who completed six of his nine pass attempts.

Trey Lance of the 49ers delivers an 80-yard touchdown pass in his preseason debut against the Chiefs.

On the second series of his preseason debut against the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers rookie Trey Lance threw an 80-yard touchdown throw.
Lance, who took over after Jimmy Garoppolo was benched for one series, went three-and-out on his first possession.
Lance rolled left to start the second drive on the 49ers’ 20-yard line before lofting a deep pass down the center of the field to Trent Sherfield, who caught it inside the Chiefs’ 45-yard line and ran the rest of the way for the touchdown.
He completed 5-of-14 passes for 128 yards in his debut.
Lance was sacked four times during his career.
Lance was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the 49ers.
North Dakota State is the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft in 2021.
On his lone drive, Garoppolo completed all three of his pass attempts for 26 yards and a punt.

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers is unlikely to participate in the preseason, according to his coach.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed on Tuesday that the reigning NFL MVP will “most likely not” participate in the preseason, implying that backup Jordan Love will start against the Houston Texans on Saturday night.

Rodgers only appeared in one series of seven offensive plays, according to ESPN.
In 2015, he was the last player to appear in more than three preseason games in a single season.
Last season, Love did not appear in any regular-season games.
