10 takeaways from the Bengals’ win over the Buccaneers, according to Dehner Jr.

TAMPA, Fla. — Returning on the road and playing real football games was a rewarding experience.
Cincinnati accomplished one of three steps toward being ready for the season opener against Minnesota by defeating the Super Bowl champions 19-14.
Even though the starters didn’t play much and Joe Burrow didn’t play at all in the opener, there was still plenty to watch and learn from.
This was the night for you if you were drafted in 2020 or 2021 and had no NFL experience.
The rookies provided a slew of reasons to cheer.
Here are some of the things I noticed in Tampa that stuck out in the context of the season.1.

Justin Fields leads the Bears to a comeback win in his NFL debut, displaying poise and playmaking ability.

Matt Dickmann has seen every game Justin Fields has played in since he was in ninth grade. He wasn’t about to break the streak for an exhibition game, especially when it was Fields NFL debut. If Dickmann was still in the office, he’d have to DVR Fields Ohio State games and tell his family not to spoil it for him.
Dickmann used to fast forward to see any snaps while Fields was a backup at Georgia. Now that he is no longer coaching, Dickmann has a Saturday afternoon free.
Dickmann attended Fields’ first NFL game with his wife, the Bears hosting the Dolphins in their first preseason game.

Earl Campbell’s’sledgehammer running’ earned him a spot on the NFL 100 at No. 66.

The Athletics’ initiative to select the 100 greatest players in football history is known as the NFL 100.
We’ll reveal new members of the list every day until the season starts, starting with the No.
On Wednesday, September 1st, one player will be crowned.
8.Earl Campbell cut to his right after receiving a handoff from Dan Pastorini.
A Los Angeles Rams linebacker who had been chosen to the Pro Bowl six times stood ready for the rookie rushing back in the hole, ready to tackle him for a loss.Isiah Robertson squared up and readied for contact.
Instead of delivering the hit, Robertson absorbed one, burying Campbell’s head hard in his sternum. It was a collision that was felt from the 23-yard line to the 900 section of the world’s first domed stadium.
It was felt all the way from Amarillo, Texas, to South Padre Island, Texas.
From the NFL offices to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it was palpable. As Robertson walked down the green carpet, Campbell kept trucking to his right.
As his jersey was torn off by a would-be tackler, he was finally dragged down 16 yards later by three Rams. “Earl flat ran over him,” an unbelieving Pastorini recalled. On the CBS broadcast, analyst George Allen, a long-time coach, labeled it “sledgehammer running.”
Later, the former Cleveland Browns running back claimed it was the hardest hit he’d ever seen.

Rookies Justin Fields and Teven Jenkins are among the top five Bears players for a successful 2021 season.

Coach Matt Nagy took his turn at the lectern to speak with reporters after the Bears veteran minicamp ended.
Yet Nagy’s view point gave another tale about Justin Fields and the rookie quarterback’s work ethic. “As a matter of fact, I look outside right now and I can see that he’s out here talking with some of our tight ends on a certain red-zone concept that we have,” Nagy said.
Everything Fields does, both good and terrible, will be analyzed.

Getting to know incoming Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh: From on-field success to succeeding Barry Alvarez

Chris McIntosh became Wisconsin’s athletic director during one of the most pivotal moments in the history of college sports.
McIntosh, who joined the Badgers athletic department in 2014, took over as AD on July 1, the same day that the name, image, and likeness era began. McIntosh spoke with The Athletic on Monday about navigating NIL, how his time as a Badgers All-American offensive lineman impacts him in his current role, his abrupt NFL retirement, and following in Alvarez’s footsteps.
The quick response is that it has been fantastic.
That is, as you are aware, an tremendously exciting period.
It’s a historic time to be a part of college athletics on a national one, and then to be a part of it on a local level.
